I started Belinda Smith Creative with a passion for mentoring less experienced writers.

If you’ve ever been to one of my classes or worked with me, you’ve likely heard me speaking from my soapbox at some point. (…here we go again.)

You are uniquely designed with your own set of experiences and abilities. I believe you have a specific place for your talents, and I am persuaded that you should strive to be excellent where you are so that you are ready when the next level of opportunity shows up.

A few years ago, I got an idea. I wondered if anyone would be up for a songwriting mentor. So, I printed up a flyer and passed it out.

Here I am all this time later the very proud mentor of a wide, varied and empowered group of songwriters. Here are just a handful of examples of what my writers do:

• Write musicals
• Create solid relationships with relevant music publishers
• They get their songs performed live
• They learn how to stand out in a very crowded market

And, MOST IMPORTANTLY, they learn how to do it without me.

Behind the Scenes

As I was putting together this new session, I took some time to look around at what you’re being offered these days. Back when I started, I didn’t know anyone else who did mentoring like this, and it hasn’t been till the past few months that I’ve run across a few people who have started duplicating the model I’ve been using.

I went back through all my files on my mentorees. I’ve looked at what we’ve worked on, worked through and worked around. I have gone over every online class I’ve created, and every single email I’ve received from songwriters who have worked with me. I covered my wall with sticky notes filled with ideas–do this again, don’t do that again, cool idea, total bleh, etc.

Three Levels of Mentoring

Silver Level – $297

Six weeks of video classes delivered straight to your inbox. Each class comes with a specific lesson, examples and assignments. In these lessons, we’ll be dealing specifically with the Craft of writing.

One Ask-Me-Anything Group call. We’ll get on the phone as a group and talk about whatever you like. (Song-related, that is.)
